Short People In Long Dresses?

One item that I think is essential to complete any girls' summer wardrobe is a maxi dress! However, my mother keeps telling me that because I'm 5ft 4 (or around that) I'm too short to wear one?? I consider my height average though so I don't see why I shouldn't be able to wear one, especially as I've seen loads of petite celebs actually pull of this look, for example Kim Kardashian and Ashanti. So what do you think? Should maxi dresses only be worn by women taller than 5ft 7 or can shorter people get away with it as long as they know how to wear it?

    I'm 5'5 and ive got a great maxi-dress. I was a bit worried about getting one as i thought they'd all be too long on me but i managed to snap up a great buy from Boohoo.com! It has adjustable straps so it can be made longer or shorter :)

    5'4 is not short! You'd definitely pull it off especially when they still look great on shorter girls. Eva Longoria is probably 5 feet tall? She's really tiny!

    I've planning on getting a maxi dress even though I'm 5'2 :)

    Hehe, you are making me feel bad. I am only 5"3 and I was wearing Maxi dress the whole summer last year. But honestly I don't think height is an issue with maxi dress. It really has something to do with the structure and style of the dress.

    Yeah, I have the sam issue with mazi dresses. they're soo summer-y, but I feel so awkward wearing one! I'm 5'1", so they look kinda strange on me... But hey, if Eva Langoria and Ashley Tisdale can rock it, why can't I?? It all depends on the dress itself. It works far better if its a thin-fit dress! I've yet to find my perfect maxi, though.

    Deff you can get away with it! They look great on short and taller girls, I'm 5ft 8 and a half and it's impossible to find ones long enough! So I think they are designed for the average woman! Go for it! :) x
