To answer your question, you may want to adjust the width of your blog template by changing the width of the left panel to be wider and the width of the right panel to be smaller. This way, you can post larger size photos without an overlap. For the pics that I upload, I just change the size of the pics from the original dimension to a size that fits my blog. There hasn't been any one size that works for me, so I play around with it until I get the size that looks the best. The most recent post has 700x700 photos.
